The Pérou catchment is located south-east of Guadeloupe, on the Basse-Terre side.
With an area of 12.6 km2, it is oriented NW-SE on one of the slopes of La Soufrière volcano (windward coast). The catchment is divided in three quite distinctive geomorphological zones.

The upstream part is characterized by a very steep slope and steep banks as well as by an extensive forest cover.

The intermediate part of the catchment is characterized by markedly gentler slopes and the presence of banana plantations.

The downstream part is characterized by low slopes and banana plantations (for 70% of its area) as well as urban areas (for 13%)
