The Pérou catchment is located south-east of Guadeloupe, on the Basse-Terre side.
With an area of 12.6 km2, it is oriented NW-SE on one of the slopes of La Soufrière volcano (windward coast).The catchment is divided in three quite distinctive geomorphological zones.
 | The upstream part is characterized by a very steep slope and steep banks as well as by an extensive forest cover.

 | The intermediate part of the catchment is characterized by markedly gentler slopes and the presence of banana plantations.

 | The downstream part is characterized by low slopes and banana plantations (for 70% of its area) as well as urban areas (for 13%)
